“Let Me Take You By The Hand And Show You How To Grow Healthy, Fresh Organic Food Without All The Problems”
Hi, I’m Toni Salter “The Veggie Lady” and I’m here to help you!
As a trained horticulturist with a passion for home-grown organic food I’ve helped people, just like you, grow great tasting, healthy food in their own backyards – from inner city balconies to those living on acres and everything in-between.

If you’re coming to the Organic Expo at Darling Harbour in Sydney (20-22 Aug 2010) make sure you visit Stand 151 and say ‘Hi’. I’d love to meet you. |
What are the benefits?

Toni, great listening to you this morning. Problem, I have a raised veggie garden. However, rats dug under the sleeper surrounds, up about 2 feet under the robust rhubarb plant n backwards n forwards to the chook yard. Q. We have removed all the old veggies added leaves n some compost materials + dynamic lifter pellets. Left it for about a month then Doug it in. Are we able to plant veggies with Rat poo?? It seems such a waste of soil but how safe is it?? It also has rat poison pellets put down the burrow which we suspect killed the rats. What do we do??please?? It’s about 3’deep (3 sleepers) 12’ long & 5’ wide. Would appreciate your thoughts. Sue Ross
Hi Sue, that’s a trick one!!
I think you’re right that there could be potential contamination because you used the rat poison pellets, but how much is anyone’s guess. I can’t really comment on that. What I’d suggest is to get your soil tested and see what the results show. Macquarie Uni does some soil sample testing but a more comprehensive (and more expensive) test is available through Aussie soil scientists at SESL. See details here https://www.sesl.com.au/tests
